MARK AND SASHA
LINDA AND CHLOE
Our Founders - Mark and Linda Greenberg
Mark and Linda Greenberg started their animal rescue efforts in typical fashion, picking up stray dogs and cats from the street. There was Triboro, a German Shepherd found running along the Triboro Bridge, Yankee the cat found outside Yankee Stadium, and Eggy, rescued from a garbage can outside the back door of a Chinese restaurant. And the pack continued to grow...
As the years passed, the Greenberg house became more and more crowded with rescued animals. After rescuing Simon, a German Shepard in desperate need of love and care, Mark and Linda decided to take their animal rescue endeavors to the next level. They purchased a larger house with a bigger yard, to accommodate their animals, and founded The Simon Foundation, Inc. It was a bare-bones operation in the early days. Mark and Linda posted photos and bios of the animals on Petfinder and then personally delivered every dog to their new forever home.
The foundation continued to grow as their home reached capacity, so they began searching for a piece of land that could accommodate the world-class rescue facility they had been dreaming of. After a two year search and months of planning, and hard work their dreams were finally realized with the opening of the Bloomfield facility. Animals who would have otherwise been abandoned, neglected, abused, or euthanized through no fault of their own, could now find new, loving, forever homes, or live out their lives in the comfort and care of The Simon Foundation, Inc.
Mark and Linda continue to be the driving force behind The Simon Foundation, Inc. Animal Rescue and Adoption Center.
